On November 7th-23rd, Moscow will host the "NET-New European Theatre" festival. It is for the 4th time that the Russian capital will receive the forum of young theatre directors and actors.
The festival has been held in Moscow since 1998 under the initiative of a group of theatre journalists. The NET is Russia's first non-government theatrical initiative that aims at presenting new theatre names to the audience. The festival focuses not on maestros or distinguished and celebrated directors, but on those who will be responsible for the development of the European theatre in the new century.
Simultaneously, it is an attempt to compare Russian theatrical experience with the new trends that appeared in the European theatre after the fall of the Berlin wall.
The previous NET festivals were represented by troupes from Bulgaria, Hungary, Great Britain and Latvia. This time local residents will see works by directors from Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania and France. Young Russian directors will also present their best productions.
