The 3rd Siberian Festival of Snow Sculpture opened in Pervomaisky Park in Novosibirsk, an administrative center in Western Siberia, on Wednesday.
Sculpting teams consisting of both children and grown-ups set about to sculpt snow figures, the best of which will be chosen and awarded on January 12th.
According to the press center of the Mayor's Office of Novosibirsk, the festival gathered sculptors from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Bishkek /Kyrgyzstan/ and several Siberian cities.
The event was organized by the Mayor's Office and a number of local public organizations. This year's festival was intended as a gift to Novosibirsk on its 110th birthday.
