World Cup: England squad hit

The England squad for the forthcoming World Cup in Korea/Japan has been hit by the injury suffered by full back Gary Neville.

Doctors have confirmed that Gary Neville, right back for Manchester United and England, will not be fit in time for the world cup, due to a fractured metatarsus in his left foot.

The injury was contracted in the semi-final of the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen, weeks after team colleague and England captain David Beckham suffered a similar injury. It is not yet clear whether or not Beckham will recover in time for the finals.
