Exhibition of Tatarstan's artists opens in Yekaterinburg

An exhibition of Tatarstan's artists has opened at the exposition hall of the Culture Ministry in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday.

The exhibition will present more than 80 paintings of all styles and trends (from realism and social art to abstractionism and conceptual paintings), the information department of the Sverdlovsk governor said.

In spite of this great variety of styles, the Tatarstan's expert commission selected paintings according to the national principle. Almost every painting shows the life in Tatar villages, boundless spaces of the native land, quiet corners of the native town and national holidays.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
