On Sunday the final representative women's tennis tournament - Nordic Light Open - ended in Helsinki in an absolute victory by Russian 17-year-old rising star Svetlana Kuznetsova.
She beat Czech Denisa Chladkova 0:6, 6:3, 6:3 in the finals. On her way to the finals she beat Swiss Patty Schnyder /2:6, 6:1, 6:2/ and Slovak Martina Sucha /6:2, 3:6, 7:5/.
The Russian sportswoman also took the doubles-title with Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.
The choice of the city of Helsinki is not incidental as the capital of Finland had hosted US-Soviet negotiations on the limitation of nuclear stockpiles in 1969
