Winter kiting competitions started on the Ob sea in Novosibirsk, Western Siberia.
Kiting is a new extreme sport - races with kites on slippery surface.
In winter, kiters race on snow and ice using skis, snowboards and skates. The program comprises 5 races of 15 km each and a 50-km marathon.
About 30 Russian athletes, including bronze winner of the World Winter Kiting championship Aleksei Razhev, are participating in the races.
The most experienced racer is 40 years of age, the youngest one is only 13.
