Russia Premieres Wedekind's "Erdgeist"

The Malaya Bronnaya company is shortly offering "Lulu" after "Erdgeist", sensational late 19th century drama by Frank Wedekind, German playwright and philosopher. It is the story of a notorious courtesan who does not spare anyone on her unscrupulous way to the top. The more progress the human race is making, the more sophisticated civilisation becomes, the tougher is the road to success. This idea, which underlies the play, is extremely topical now, says Andrei Zhitinkin, company chief director.
