Head of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev believes that the sports court will acquit Russian skier Larissa Lazutina, who is accused by the international anti-doping bureau of using doping during the Winter Olympics in US Salt Lake City, Tyagachev disclosed this to journalists in Moscow. According to Tyagachev, in the course of the investigation, concerning Lazutina's doping scandal "the bureau made a lot of mistakes". Particularly, the results of the blood samples, which had been taken in December, were announced only in spring 2002. In this connection, Russia with the help of lawyers will seek the passing of the case from the Olympic Sports Court in Lausanne to the General Switzerland Court, due "to the poor evidence of the Sports Court," Tyagachev stressed. Referring to lawyers, Leonid Tyagachev in this connection said, that "there are serious reasons to fight for Olympic skier Lazutina, for her medals and her sports honour".
Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club that Russia will never initiate military actions, including with the use of nuclear weapons
