Third Moscow Contest of Young Pianists becomes international

80 young pianists will compete in the four nominations of the Third Moscow Open Contest of Young Pianists scheduled for September 25, said the organizers of the contest at a Tuesday press conference. The contest was promoted by the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture together with the Anna Artobolevskaya musical foundation and aims at discovering and supporting young talented musicians.

The first and the second contests were held in 1996 and 1999 respectively. The participation in the first contest was reserved for the Muscovites, the second one was attended by young gifted musicians from 52 Russian regions, and the contest itself was granted the status of an open one.

The third open contest will be international, with the jury and contestants coming from Canada, Japan, China, Switzerland and Germany. "It's pretty hard to gather such well-known musicians from various countries in one place," admitted Yury Bogdanov, one of the organizers of the musical show, speaking at the press conference.

The contest aims at disseminating the teaching methods of the famous Russian pedagogue, a teacher at the Central music school with the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire, Anna Artobolevskaya, who had educated a lot of prominent musicians.

Concerts of the famous musicians, Anna Artobolevskaya's pupils, master-classes by the jury members and a methodological seminar on the problems of musical pedagogics will be held within the framework of the contest.
