Svetlana Kuznetsova and Martina Navratilova to Play in Miami Semi-Finals

Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia and legendary Martina Navratilova from the US have reached the semi-finals of the NASDAQ Open tennis tournament in Miami after defeating the world's best pair.

On Wednesday, in a tough battle 17-year-old Kuznetsova and 46-year-old Navratilova defeated Spanish Virginia Ruano Pascual and Argentinean Paola Suarez - the pair, which occupies the first line of the Women Tennis Association /WTA/ rating list.

The game, which lasted 2 hours and 11 minutes, ended in favour of the Russian and American 6:7 /7:9/; 7:6 /7:5/; 6:3.

In order to reach the finals of the tournament with the prize of $3mln, Kuznetsova and Navratilova will either play against the Japanese-Belgian pair Ai Sugiyama-Kim Clijsters or the pair from Bulgaria and South African Republic Magdalena Maleeva-Liezel Huber.
