The organizers of the forthcoming Moscow International Peace Marathon scheduled for September 1 are ready to receive more than two thousand athletes. The Marathon is devoted to Moscow City Day that is usually celebrated on the first Sunday of September. It the 22nd anniversary of the Marathon.
Boris Fadeyev, the Director of the Moscow International Peace Marathon, said at a Thursday press conference that a great number of countries participate in the Marathon and it can compete with the largest international sporting events. According to him, athletes from more than 30 European countries as well as athletes from Asia and Africa will run along the Moskva river embankment. Athletes from Arab countries will participate in the Marathon for the first time. The total prize money of the Marathon is 800,000 rubles (about 25,000 US dollars).
