Russian Paralympic athletes take 12 medals in London

On the fourth day of the Games in London, the Russian Paralympic team won 12 medals - four gold, three silver and four bronze ones. In overall medal standings, Russia the retained the fifth place.

The gold medal was won by athlete Eugene Shvetsov, who overcame 100 meters in 12.08 seconds, which marked a new Paralympic record at this distance. Another track and field athlete - Alexey Labzin - finished first on the 400-meter track with the result of 48.59 seconds, also setting a Paralympic record.

Nicole Rodomakina became a champion in long jumping. Swimmer Roman Makarov brought a gold medal to the Russian team. He overcame 100 meters swimming butterfly in 57.21 seconds, adds Vesti.ru.

Silver medals were won by track and field athlete Alexander Zverev (400 meters), Anna Sorokina (javelin), swimmer Sergey Punko and swimmer Daria Stukalova (both on the 100-meter track, butterfly).

The bronze medals were won by Angelica Kosacheva (table tennis), Alex Chuvashev (rowing), Alexander Golintovsky (swimming, 100-meter freestyle) and the men's relay quartet in freestyle swimming at a distance of 4x400.

At the end of the fourth day of the Games, the Russian Paralympic athletes have  - 34 awards (12 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze). Team Russia comes fifth in the team event.
