Pawina sets 63 world record at Asian Games

Olympic champion Pawina Thongsuk of Thailand set a clean and jerk world record Monday on her way to the Asian Games 63-kilogram weightlifting gold medal.

Pawina lifted 142 kg in the clean and jerk to improve on Russian Svetlana Shimkova's record of 141 kg set at Wladyslawowo, Poland earlier this year.

The Thai weightlifter eclipsed her own Asian record of 140 kg and now holds all three world records in the 63-kilogram class, reports AP.

Pawina hoisted 110 kg in the snatch for a combined 252 kg on Monday.
