Four corners to one in favour of Spain in a first half which brought Spain’s first goal in the competition, from David Villa on 17’ after dribbling past his marker and slipping his ball home between two Honduras and the keeper.

Spain started aggressively, Torres forcing Valladares to save on 5’, Villa on 6’ then a minute later, Villa hit the crossbar. Just when Honduras started to get into the game, Villa struck.

After the break, Villa again on 51’, finishing a move involving Xavi and Navas. The ball, shot from the edge of the penalty box, took a deflection from a Honduras player. Two minutes later, Valladares denied Navas.

64’ David Villa missed a penalty after Chavez fouled in the box. Fabregas substituted Xavi on 67’ and on 68’ Chavez cleared his shot off the line.
