England's Football Association seeks national team coach

England's Football Association will need some help to decide who to appoint as national team coach.

Chief executive Brian Barwick has already spoken with UEFA president Michel Platini, former Germany coach Franz Beckenbauer, Wales coach John Toshack and England captain John Terry.

Terry has publicly stated he would like to play under former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who is rated by British bookmakers as favorite to succeed Steve McClaren.

Sky TV reported Thursday that Barwick and FA director of football development Trevor Brooking also want to meet with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Manchester United's Alex Ferguson, former England great Bobby Charlton, England midfielder Steven Gerrard, and previous England coaches Bobby Robson, Glenn Hoddle and Graham Taylor.

McClaren was fired last week after England failed to qualify for next year's European Championship, missing out on a major tournament for the first time in 14 years.
