On Thursday in the wake of the session of the post-ministerial conference within the "ASEAN plus Russia" format deputy Russian foreign minister ALeksander Losyukov stated that the meeting of the joint committee on cooperation between Russia and ASEAN would take place in Moscow on 19-20 September.
The diplomat indicated that within the framework of the committee a meeting of the working group on trade and economic cooperation would also be held. The Deputy Russian foreign minister stated that "he was hopeful it would be attended by a number of Russian departments and organizations which were interested in cooperation with ASEAN countries." Losyukov reported that the meeting would consider prospects of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries as well as exchange of information on export capabilities, the commodities market situation. The diplomat also reported that specific projects would be discussed. According to Losyukov, it would be a kind of an inter-governmental committee on trade and economic cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries.
Losyukov also indicated that earlier Russia proposed to ASEAN countries a whole range of projects in the area of exchange of information, transport, trade. Losyukov pointed that "due to weak development of the contacts between the countries those projects were not implemented."
