On Thursday, the international meeting of graduates of Soviet and Russian higher educational establishments opens in Beijing. Graduates from China, Vietnam, Russia, Tunisia, Nepal, and other countries have gathered for a regular meeting of the International Coordination Council of University Graduates, Incorvuz 21. The meeting is organised by the Chinese Association of Graduates of the Former Soviet or CIS Universities in cooperation with Roszarubezhtsentr, the former Union of the Societies for Friendship. Director General of Incorvuz-21 Gennady Kalyuzhny said that during the last 12 years Incorvuz-21 has been cooperating with national associations of graduates of Russian and other CIS member-states' universities in almost 50 countries all over the world. The most active and large in numbers are such associations in China and Vietnam, comprising 25,000 and 15,000 members, respectively. Mr. Kalyuzhny mentioned that in the period after the war, about 700,000 foreigners have been trained in higher educational establishments of Russia, the former USSR, and CIS. Today, many of them are famous political figures and statesmen, prominent scientists and businessmen, and writers and artists. Among them are Angola's President Eduardo dos Santos, President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak, Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Chinese Leader Jiang Zemin, Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Chinese People's Congress Li Peng, as well as top authorities in Cuba, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Mongolia, Nepal, and other countries.
