Russian supermarket opened in the Hague

On Saturday the first Russian "Moskva" supermarket was opened in the Hague on a busy trade street not far from the centre.

On November 1-9 the supermarket will be hosting the presentation of Russian merchandize. All comers may taste traditional Russian food and drinks. Russian music is played in the supermarket.

Representatives of the Hague municipality who helped to find appropriate premises for the Russian supermarket and processed its lease agreement visited the supermarket as its honorary guests.

This is the second "Moskva" supermarket in the Netherlands. The first one has been successfully operating since last year in the city of Amstelfeen. It is very popular with former residents of Russia and other CIS states as well as with the Dutch.

A great number of immigrants from the former Soviet Union reside in the Hague. In addition to that the Hague hosts embassies and consulates of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, international organisations. That is why owners of the Moskva supermarket, also former CIS citizens, expect to have enough clients.

The supermarket offers a large assortment of Russian books, videos, music CDs and certainly, foodstuffs. Here you can always buy Borodinsky bread, different types of pelmeni, sausages, ham, frankfurters, salted mushrooms, sauerkraut, cottage cheese, kefir, canned fish, beer, Champaign and many other products from Russia.

"In our supermarkets we try to have everything from rye bread to mustard plasters. 90% of the products are supplied from Russia by such companies as Rot-Front, Krasny Oktyabr (Red October) and major canning plants. Assortment in Russia is constantly expanding and they have to supply everything in time for the business to develop normally. Nevertheless we have no delivery problems," Vladimir Batoyan, the director of the Moskva supermarket told RIA Novosti.

Representatives of the Israeli Defence Ministry responded to recent reports about the possible delivery of S-300 SAM systems from Russia to Syria. Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that Israel would destroy those systems
