The Air Show - 2004 is to open in Al Ain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), February 2, involving representatives of 15 countries, Russia included.
Russia will boast more exhibits than the rest, bringing in 16 warplanes and civilian aircraft; their list includes a MIG-29 Fulcrum air-superiority fighter, a Su-27 Flanker fighter-interceptor, as well as an L-39 Albatross air-force trainer.
The air show stipulates demonstration flights, aerobatic stunts, as well as a world cup in aerobatic flying; among other things, the Russian team will also vie for that cup.
The Middle East has never hosted such a major sports event and air show before. UAE authorities are organising this event under the auspices of the world air sports association; the air show is to last until February 6.
