Since 2002, Russia and China have significantly intensified co-operation in piloted space flights, head of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, Rosaviakosmos, Yuri Koptev said at a press conference.
He believes by May, when the Chinese leader is expected to visit Russia, the sides can be ready to sign joint documents on co-operation in the space area.
This October, China intends to carry out a piloted space flight, the head of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency recalled. "In this context the two countries have been enhancing their co-operation," he pointed out.
During the consultations that lasted over two years the parties found it "inexpedient to build jointly a common navigation system", Koptev stated. According to the head of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, China considers it necessary to create its own navigation system.
"Moreover, the parties will continue co-operation in this area by conducting joint experiments and co-ordinating both navigation systems," the Rosaviakosmos head pointed out.
