Iraqi proposal to resume negotiations with UN commission proves "it is not afraid of inspectors"

The Iraqi proposal to resume negotiations with the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission /UNMOVIC/ proves to "the Americans and the rest" that the country "is not afraid of inspectors" for "it has no weapons of mass destruction at its disposal." According to the RIA Novosti correspondent, this statement was released on Saturday by the Iraqi Babil newspaper.

According to the newspaper headed by Udei Saddam Hussein, the elder son the Iraqi President, this step testifies to "Iraq's sanity, its peaceful intentions in the approach" to its relations with the UN.

Iraq addressed the UN Secretary-General the other day revealing its desire to hold negotiations with the UNMOVIC head and its inspectors "as soon as possible" to discuss the progress of the disarmament effort achieved from May 1991 till December 1998.
