The USA Has Confirmed Connection Between Al-Qaida And The Training Of Terrorists In Chechnya

The official representative of the US Department of State, Richard Boucher, has confirmed the existence of a certain connection between the terrorist organisation Al-Qaida and the militants of the separatists in Chechnya. Speaking on Thursday, January 3, at a briefing in Washington, Boucher said that the United States was contacting with Russia in the operation against the Al-Qaida terrorists. At the same time he repeated the well-known stand of the US administration that the situation in Chechnya should be settled by political means. It is possible to fight against terrorism, but fundamental political problems must be approached politically, said Richard Boucher. He pointed out that the United States and Russia had no differences in such an approach to Chechnya.
