A hundred and fifty-eight Arab mercenaries from the al-Qaeda organisation who attempted to transgress the Afghan-Pakistani border, are in custody in the Kohat prison in Pakistan. This information was disclosed on Friday by the Kuwaiti Al-Watan newspaper. These militants have been arrested by the Pakistani authorities and local tribes during an attempt to transgress the border in the Tora Bora sector, Eastern Afghanistan. Among them, there are 5 Kuwaitis, 40 Saudis, as well as Yemenis and Egyptians, the newspaper reports. Relatives of the arrested Kuwaitis stated to the newspaper that all the five were members of charity organisations and had not been participating in military actions within the Taliban movement or al-Qaeda organisation. The Al-Qabas newspaper has previously reported that at the moment the anti-terrorist operation commenced, there were 30 Kuwaitis in Afghanistan. According to reliable sources, 7 of them were killed in Kandahar and Kabul. Another 17 Kuwaiti citizens have been arrested on the way to Afghanistan after the operation was launched by the Iranian and Pakistani authorities.
