The second session of the joint Pakistani-Azeri commission on economic cooperation has been held in the Pakistani capital since Monday. The delegation of Azerbaijan (eight members) is headed by deputy prime minister Yakub Eyubov.
On Tuesday, the head of the Azeri delegation held a meeting with the Pakistani finance minister Shaukat Aziz, in the course of which the sides agreed to develop cooperation in the fields of trade, aviation, customs and banking.
A number of joint ventures in the textile industry, agriculture, science and finances are planned to be created. In particular, Pakistan is to open in Baku a branch of the national bank. It is also interested in using the experience of Azerbaijan in the development of power engineering and oil production sector of the economy.
On Tuesday, Eyubov met with deputy defence minister of Pakistan Hamid Nawaz-Han. The sides discussed political questions, and the problems of cooperation in the military sphere. Pakistan, in particular is ready to train Azeri servicemen in colleges and at higher command courses in Quetta and Islamabad.
