The 27th Session Of The Executive Council Of The Organisation For The Prohibition Of Chemical Weapons Opens In The Hague

The 27th session of the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons opens in the Hague on Tuesday. The Russian delegation at it is headed by director general of the Munitions Agency of the Russian Federation Zinovy Pak. As the RIA Novosti correspondent reports, the session will discuss, in particular, the question of giving a delay to Russia in carrying out its commitments for destroying its chemical weapons' reserves. According to the new programme, adopted in Russia, it should complete its commitments for destroying chemical weapons' reserves in 2012. The Organisation's Executive Council will also discuss problems connected with the possible use of chemical weapons by terrorists and will consider several Russia's applications for the conversion of former facilities for producing chemical weapons. The session will end on December 7.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
