Igor Ivanov on Colin Powell's Upcoming Report at UN Security Council Session

Russia and international experts will have to find out to what extent US Secretary of State Colin Powell's report at the upcoming session of the United Nations Security Council will be able to influence the work of international inspectors in Iraq, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov announced upon his arrival in New York, which hosts the aforementioned session on Wednesday.

"No special decisions or new resolutions will be adopted at the session," Ivanov stressed.

According to his words, the current session is an intermediate one. He also said every session was very important for the effort to settle the situation around Iraq.

Asked by RIA Novosti when would the next subject-related session take place, the foreign minister said it would be clear "after we have evaluated the results of the upcoming meeting." Ivanov also said the sides were expected to exchange opinions on realization of other Security Council decisions dealing with the situation around Iraq.
