Georgian-British exercises begin in Georgia

On Monday in Georgia, the Georgian Express 2004 Georgian-British military exercises began. The exercises will last until July 18.

According the Georgian Defense Ministry press service, the exercises will be held at a military base in Vaziani. One hundred and seventy British officers and reservists from a base in southwestern England and Georgian soldiers from Defense Ministry's 11th motor brigade will be involved in the exercises.

During the exercises, soldiers will practice techniques of establishing order at checkpoints, patrols and the distributions of the humanitarian aid.

The exercises are part of the British government's military aid program for Georgia. The program in its turn is part of NATO's Partnership for Peace program.
