Talks between experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and lawyers from the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization continue in Tehran.
The IAEA legal experts and the Iranian lawyers regard the atmosphere of the talks in Tehran as positive and constructive.
The sides began the day before a discussion of technical, legal and political details of the additional protocol to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). Iran's joining the additional protocol is viewed by the world community, the U.S. above all, as a means of making Iranian nuclear programs more transparent.
"The purpose of the talks is to consider in detail and remove misunderstandings in the additional protocol, so that in future Iranian experts could submit a comprehensive report to the country's government," it was said in the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
It is expected that, on the basis of this report to be formulated by Iranian experts, a decision would be taken on whether it would be advisable for Iran to sign an additional protocol to the NPT. In the opinion of Tehran officials, the signing of the protocol should meet Iran's national interests.
