International Conference On Combating Terrorism Opens In Warsaw

A conference on combating terrorism in which heads of state and high-ranking representatives of the states of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe are taking part has opened in Warsaw with the speech by President of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski. The goal of the meeting is to map out specific steps aimed at counter-acting the threat which the world has been facing since the September 11 terrorist acts in the U.S.A. Russia and the U.S.A. are attending the conference in the capacity of observers. The conferees intend to adopt a joint political declaration, as well as the list of specific tasks the solution of which should become obligatory for the states-participants in the forum.
