Federation Council Speaker in Mexico

Speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov arrived in Mexico on a two-day official visit on Wednesday.

He will hold negotiations with heads of both houses of the Mexican National Congress, speak at the Senate's solemn session, meet representatives of the business community and take part in the opening ceremony of the Days of the Russian Federation in the Mexican Senate.

Mironov told journalists at Benito Juares international airport in Mexico that the upper houses of the two states with the federative structure have many similar functions.

When replying to RIA Novosti's question about the results of his visit to the United States, which has just ended, Mironov stressed that he was satisfied with them. During the visit, a memorandum on co-operation was signed between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the US Senate.
