Czech President Points to Significant Improvement of Russian-Czech Relations

The Czech president has visited the Russian Embassy in Prague and congratulated veterans for the first time after the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War /1941-1945/.

In an exclusive interview with RIA Novosti the Czech leader, Vaclav Klaus, pointed to significant improvement of Russian-Czech relations in the recent time. "Our people have been showing natural interest in each other," he stated.

The Czech president highlighted that he was looking forward to his upcoming visit to St. Petersburg at the end of May to participate in the celebration of the city's 300th anniversary. "I hope my possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will not only be a protocol one and we will be able to discuss topical issues of our relations," Vaclav Klaus stated.

The Russian Embassy in Prague is hosting a reception on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War and Czechoslovakia's liberation. Leading Czech politicians, public figures, Czech and Russian veterans have arrived at the Russian Embassy.
