Kosovo’s half a million dollars aid to Katrina victims

The government of the United Nations-administered Kosovo province expressed readiness to donate 400,000 euros aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina that struck United States causing vast destruction.

"The government and the people of Kosovo will never forget all aspects of aid - political, financial and military - that the American people has given to Kosovo," Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi said.

"Although this is a small amount of money, it shows our great wish and will to help the American people in this difficult time," he added according to the AFP.

It is well known that Kosovo’s economy is still in poor condition with almost 60% of the population of the southern Serbian after-war province jobless. Terrorism, kidnapping and human-trafficking are on the rise in the fear-stricken region after Yugoslavia troops left - Kosovo has been 6 years under UN-protectorate already.
