Tehran positive about nuclear talks with EU

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi has positively assessed his negotiations with the EU leaders on Iranian nuclear programmes.

"Our negotiations with the EU leadership, including Germany, Belgium and Denmark, positively highlighted the problem of the Iranian nuclear programmes," Mr. Kharazi told reporters on Saturday after his return from the European tour.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, "an important step forward has been made, and now there is an atmosphere of increased trust between Tehran and the EU." "After some preparatory efforts of Iran and the IAEA, we will witness good results soon," added Mr. Kharazi.

According to him, "Tehran is taking active diplomatic measures in view of the June session of the IAEA Board of Governors to prevent this body from adopting an anti-Iranian resolution." "On the whole, the European tour of the Iranian foreign minister and his talks helped to reduce the EU's pressure on Iran. This circumstance may contribute to a positive decision on the Iranian case, which Tehran wants to see closed," said the source.

In his words, "in about a week, Iran will present an all-out report to the IAEA about its nuclear developments." "On the other side, IAEA experts will sum up the inspections and prepare a report, which will underlie the concluding report of IAEA Director General Muhamed El Baradei," said the expert.

"If the agency is not subject to Washington's political pressure to pass the Iranian case to the UN Security Council, the IAEA Board of Governors may refuse to adopt anti-Iranian resolutions and bind Iran to further co-operation with the IAEA on the basis of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the additional protocol to it," said the Iranian expert.

Tehran is denying all Washington's accusations of its aspiration to develop nuclear weapons and expects the Iranian case to be dropped after the June session of the IAEA Board of Governors and Iran's co-operation with the IAEA to proceed in the normal regime.
