USA Resumed Bombardments Of Afghanistan

The RIA Novosti correspondent reports that on Monday the USA resumed bombardments of Afghanistan. According to available information, new strikes were delivered, minimum, against four cities including Kabul and Kandagar. In Kandagar Taleban air defense forces opened fire on American aircraft. Pentagon confirmed the commencement of air strikes against Afghanistan. According to the information provided by an official representative of the US Defense department, on Monday cruise missiles would not be used. US Air force strategic bombers are not engaged in the second wave of air strikes. According to the sources, carrier-based fighter bombers from American air carriers stationed in the Arabian sea are engaged. According to the information provided to the RIA Novosti correspondent in the British Defense department, British air force aircraft do not participate in the second wave of strikes against Afghanistan. On Monday afternoon (it will be Tuesday in Moscow) US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld intends to "inform the country" of the results of the first strikes against Afghanistan. Rumsfeld stated that the anti-terrorist operation "would last for several years" and probably would involve alongside with Afghanistan some other countries.
