They are scheduled to visit the Russian Academy of Sciences, to meet its President Yuri Osupov, to visit RAO UES, social institutions and the Tretyakov gallery Tuesday. The greater part of the programme of the king's visit deals with the cultural and scientific spheres. Direct contacts on several fundamental and applied researches between the Russian and Swedish scientific and technical establishments, higher education institutions are the prevailing organisational form of cooperation in these spheres. Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf exchanged opinions on the situation in the world after the Us launched its anti-terrorist action in Afghanistan. On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
