French Foreign Ministry has highly evaluated the results of the visit by French Foreign Minister Dominique Galouzeau de Villipen to Moscow.
"The results of the talks of De Villipen with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Russian Defence Minister Sergey Ivanov are highly important for the strengthening and developing of Russo-French relations," official spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry Bernard Valero said.
"French and Russian points of view on topical international problems, such as Middle East and Iraq, are similar or very close, and France intends to continue its cooperation with Russia in these directions," Valero stressed.
Speaking about the Kaliningrad region (a Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea), the spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry said, "that in the opinion of France it is unnecessary to aggravate the relations of Russia with European executives." "The Kaliningrad issue should be settled in a specific and pragmatic channel for the all parts concerned," Valero said.
"The formation of a French-Russian Security Council is a very important element for a dynamical development of the French dialogue with Russia," he said.
"France wants to see Russia as a powerful and prosperous country because it is very important for the Russia-EU relations, and is very significant for the stability and security in modern world," Valero said.
