Irish fans jugd

Four violent fans of a Dublin soccer club attacked a Northern Ireland pub and wounded a female customer. They were convicted of riotous behavior and put in prison Wednesday.

The four men, all from Dublin, received three-month prison terms in Londonderry Magistrates Court after police identified them as members of a drunken crowd of supporters of the Dublin club Bohemians.

The crowd ransacked and barraged a Londonderry pub called the Tavern Bar just minutes before the start of the League of Ireland Cup final between Bohemians and the hometown club, Derry City, which won 1-0 for its third straight cup victory.

Tavern Bar patrons were showered with glass, rocks, bottles and other objects thrown by the departing hooligans. One customer, identified only as a woman in her 20s, suffered cut ligaments in a hand.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said officers studied closed-circuit television footage of the pub attack to pinpoint images of the attackers' faces and clothing. These images were presented in court.

Four other Bohemians supporters who were arrested, including a 17-year-old Dublin boy, were freed without charge.
