An International Forum Discussing State Security Means Underway In Moscow

On November 10, Russian Militia Day, the fifth international forum Interpolitech-2001 on means ensuring state security will open in Moscow within the framework of the "National Security" international event. The forum was organised by the Russian interior ministry, the Russian government, the Federal Frontier Service, and the State Duma (the Russian parliament's lower chamber). Interior ministers from four foreign countries, and also authorised representatives of the interior ministries of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) member states will come to the forum. All in all, some 130 foreign guests from 18 countries will attend the forum. Such forums were first launched as exhibitions in 1992. The first exhibition was called Millipol-Moscow, and then, since 1995, all the subsequent exhibitions have been entitled Interpolitech. The exhibition was progressing, and some new trends appeared in it which reflected both the activities of police units and those of special-forces military units. Major international scientific and practical conferences, including conferences devoted to the fight against terrorism, were regularly held within the framework of these exhibitions. Since 2000, Interpolitech has been an international forum. Delegations of law-enforcement agencies from CIS member countries, Western Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America take an active part in it. This year, the events to be held within the framework of the Interpolitech-2001 forum will include an exhibition of police and military equipment, an international scientific and practical conference on "The World Community in the Fight Against Terrorism", and a presentation of police and military equipment on the testing grounds of the Russian interior ministry. The forum will last till November 14.
