International Peacekeepers In Kabul Will Have Limited Freedom Of Action

A spokesman of the Afghan defence ministry said on Monday that the international UN peacekeeping force would not be allowed to patrol Kabul. According to the Saudi News Agency SPA, the peacekeepers will guard government buildings in the capital but law and order will be maintained by special Afghan security troops. Under an agreement signed by representatives of different Afghan forces in Bonn, the UN peacekeepers were to ensure security in Kabul and other regions and confiscate weapons from different groups in the areas of the peacekeepers' deployment.
