Li Peng: Seleznyov's Visit To Develop Bilateral Relations

The official visit of Russian State Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznyov will give a new impulse and will develop Russian-Chinese relations, Li Peng, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), said Monday after meeting Seleznyov in Beijing. According to Li Peng, they discussed the prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary and interstate relations. After the meeting Gennady Seleznyov told journalists that the NPC Chairman and the Russian delegates are satisfied with the development of relations between the two countries. According to Seleznyov, the ratification of bilateral interstate agreement on friendship, cooperation and good-neighborly relations is on the State Duma's agenda on December 26. The document is to determine Russian-Chinese relations for the next 20 years. The Chinese side has already ratified the agreement signed by Russian and Chinese Presidents Vladimir Putin and Jiang Zemin in Moscow on July 16.
