'Rybkin told me that he was tired and that is why he went to visit friends in Kiev,' Boris Berezovsky stated Tuesday in a telephone interview with radio station Ekho Moskvy. Berezovsky said Rybkin's voice was altogether normal during their conversation. 'I told him that spending time with friends was, of course, fine, but that he'd set the whole world on its ear for a couple of days,' Berezovsky said, adding that Ksenya Ponomareva had said she would not manage the election campaign of such a candidate. Berezovsky said, 'Rybkin admitted that he'd probably let others down.'
The businessman underlined the novelty of the situation for him. 'I'm finding it hard to draw conclusions. The Ivan Rybkin whom I know is absolutely not a player of games. He is a very responsible person. And I'm not going to draw any conclusions about what really happened until I really know what happened. If this was a stunt, Ivan Rybkin's political career is finished.'
