The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the countries party to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) called upon Russia, the USA and the European Union to take immediate moves to "stop the Israeli aggression which is aimed at destroying the Palestinian National Authority and at thwarting the peace process in the region". The final communique adopted on the results of the conference in Qatar's capital Doha contains also a call for urgently sending international observers to the region to defend the Palestinian people and to ensure security and stability on the occupied Palestinian territories. The heads of the foreign policy agencies of the Islamic states condemned Israel for its systematic fire attacks on the Palestinian refugee camps and on the buildings of the Palestinian national authority, having assessed these actions as gross violations of human rights and international agreements. The statement adopted in Doha also contains a call on the USA to step up the positive elements of its approach to the resolution of the Palestinian problem and of the Arab-Israeli conflict as a whole, meaning first of all establishment of an independent Palestinian state". The statement rejects comparison between terrorism and the legitimate right of the peoples - Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian - to struggle against the occupation.
