First Russian-German maneuvers taking place near Ivanovo

Today, first joint military exercises of the Russian Army and Bundeswehr,the German Armed Forces, will continue near Ivanovo. The goal of themaneuvers is to study the experience of peacekeeping activities in Bosnia,Herzegovina and Kosovo and to work on joint activities for eliminatinglocal conflicts and peacekeeping in various regions of the planet,including fighting international terrorism.There will be two stages of the maneuvers. On August 11-12, 2002, Germantroopers are visiting the Ivanovo airborne division. On August 21-31, 2002,a platoon of Russian troopers will participate in the second stage of themilitary exercises in Germany..
