In the event of escalation of the conflict in Karabakh, Pakistan will stand with Azerbaijan and provide necessary aid. Karimullah said Pakistan desires widened military cooperation with Azerbaijan and intends to conduct negotiations leading toward a step-up in training Azerbaijani military personnel in Pakistan army and navy units. At a meeting with Azerbaijan Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, Karimullah again emphasized that 'official Islamabad has always supported and will continue to support official Baku on all questions.'
