The World Energy Council's Executive Assembly opened here yesterday. As reported by Rosbalt, this is the first time that a CIS country has hosted an energy meeting at this level. Some 344 representatives of 65 countries are taking part. Participants include the heads of national energy ministries and major companies as well as representatives of the All-Ukraine Energy Committee.
The Executive Assembly began with a day devoted to Ukraine's fuel-energy complex as part of which the foreign participants had an opportunity to make themselves acquainted with Ukraine's energy industry through an exhibit in the International Exhibit Center.
The forum is expected to concentrate on such important energy-related questions as market reconstruction, energy efficiency, environmental protection, financing energy systems, pricing and subsidies, standards and new technology.
