State Duma First Vice Speaker Believes That Relations Between Russia And Nato Are Becoming Friendly

Relations between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance have acquired a new, friendly, nature. This opinion was expressed by First Vice Speaker of the State Duma (lower house of parliament) Lyubov Sliska when she told journalists about the results of her trip to the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly which took place from October 5 to 9 in Ottawa (Canada). According to her, the main theme at the session was the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11. The NATO parliamentary session resulted in the adoption of the Declaration on Combating International Terrorism. The main thing, however, as Sliska said, was that at this NATO parliamentary session Russia was regarded as a partner, not as a participant in the Cold War. The Alliance's Secretary General George Robertson repeatedly emphasised a new nature of relations with Russia, said the First Vice Speaker of the State Duma.
