Russia: Diplomatic Academy Awards Honoured Doctorate To Slovak President

The Diplomatic Academy under the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs bestowed Doctor's degree honoris causa on President Rudolf Schuster of Slovakia. President Schuster earned the degree with a spectacular contribution to bilateral contacts, and as author of many books and Slovak Writers' Union member, Yuri Kashlev, academy First Prorector, said before the ceremony. The Academic Council determined on President Schuster's doctorate, October 24, he added. Rudolf Schuster thanked the academy staff for the great honour. "A cool spell in Slovak-Russian relations set in after 1989. Now it has passed," he said. The President's current official visit to Russia aims to promote partnership. As he repeatedly emphasised in his address, Schuster attaches tremendous importance to bilateral contacts.
