Russia, China Agree To Coordinate Anti-terrorist Activities

Russia and China have agreed to closely coordinate their anti-terrorist activities, official spokesman for the Russian foreign ministry Alexander Yakovenko told journalists after a Sunday evening meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and China in New York. According to Yakovenko, Igor Ivanov and Tang Jiaxuan agreed that no double standards must be allowed in the anti-terrorist campaign, and stressed the community of Russia and China's approaches to the anti-terrorist struggle, which both countries think must be guided by the United Nations. Apart from that, the sides discussed strategic stability, the situation in Afghanistan, the rise and development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and Russian-Chinese interaction in Asia. They also highly evaluated the current state of Russian-Chinese relations in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
