Estonian Foreign Minister: Estonia must be prepared to repel Russian rocket attack

Estonian Foreign Minister Kristiina Ojuland believes that there isn't much of a chance of a rocket attack from Russia but, nevertheless, Estonia must be prepared to repel such an attack.

'We must not forget history. It would be irresponsible to say that Russia will never again threaten Estonia - But at the present time other threats are more real, which equally threaten NATO countries and Russia,' said Ojuland in an interview with the newspaper Postimees.

Ojuland said that Estonia and NATO countries are anxious about a new defense doctrine in Russia, which in certain instances would lead to taking preventive strikes by Russia in regions, which Russia deems as unstable. 'The underlying logic could lead to the rebirth of the cold war in which Russia opposed NATO,' said Ojuland. According to Ojuland, once Estonia joins NATO it will be less anxious about possible aggressions by Russia.
