Russia to help Vietnam with arms and nuclear energy

Russia and Vietnam agreed to speed up negotiations on the creation of a  free trade zone between the Republic and the Customs Union. This was stated by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang after the talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The talks between the presidents took place in Hanoi on November 12.

In addition, an agreement was reached to supply modern Russian weapons to the Vietnamese army and render assistance in the creation of nuclear power.

Also, Gazprom and Petrovietnam signed an agreement on establishing a joint company for the production of natural gas motor fuel in Vietnam. Russian oil company Rosneft Vietnam's Petrovietnam agreed to cooperate in the production of hydrocarbons in the Pechora Sea. 

Putin's visit to Vietnam was about to be canceled over Typhoon Haiyan, but the plans were left unchanged after the storm took a different direction.
